Understanding ePublisher Online Help and WebWorks Documentation Wiki Integration
The ePublisher product team produces the ePublisher online help system as a part of their product development and release process. The ePublisher online help system contains the latest information about the product available at the time of release. ePublisher installs the ePublisher online help system locally on user computers when users install ePublisher.
The ePublisher product team also publishes the same content used in the ePublisher online help system to the docs.webworks.com documentation Wiki. This integration provides the following benefits:
WebWorks employees, partners, and customers can add comments, edits, and content to the ePublisher topics on the docs.webworks.com Wiki in real time, improving, enhancing, and extending the ePublisher documentation as needed instantaneously.
ePublisher users with an Internet connection who view the ePublisher online help system installed on their computers can quickly see the following information:
If a page they are viewing in the ePublisher help system on their local computer has been updated on the Wiki
If other users have added comments about the page on the Wiki
The following figure shows a page from the ePublisher online help system.
The frame in the upper right corner of each page in the ePublisher online help system contains two links, Wiki and Discussion. As you click pages in the ePublisher online help system, the frame in the upper right corner of the page communicates with the docs.webworks.com Wiki server. It identifies if ePublisher content providers have edited or added comments to the corresponding page on the docs.webworks.com Wiki server.
Note: If you do not have an Internet connection, the Wiki and Discussion radio buttons are not enabled and you cannot see which pages in your locally installed ePublisher help system have been updated or commented upon on the Wiki. However, you can still access the ePublisher online help system installed on your computer when you installed ePublisher.
